Introduction to Navigation
Thursday, April 25, 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Bear Creek Nature Center, Bear Den
Even in today’s high-tech world, your smartphone will only get you so far. Come learn basic navigation skills using map and compass to find your way. In this class, you will learn the parts of a compass, how to read a topographic map, and how to use them in tandem. We will also show you how to use a map protractor/coordinate scale and plot coordinates to determine you exact location using UTM grid coordinates. People can get lost anywhere, which is why navigation skills are critical whether you are on or off trail. If you have a compass and/or map protractor/coordinate scale, please bring them to the class.
This class is instructed by Jason Marsteiner, a Colorado Native and owner of The Survival University. Jason has been practicing survival techniques most of his life, began officially teaching survival in 2010.
$25 per person: The class is limited to 15 participants and preregistration is required. Please click here to register.
