Nature Journaling Guided Walk

Sharpen your pencils! This guided walk incorporates a short hike with stops to experience nature in a whole new way. Participants will be offered prompts and invitations to sketch, photograph, journal and explore the beauty & wonders of Bear Creek trails. Offered by ANFT certified Forest & Nature Therapy Guide, Tati McAlister.

Bear Creek Restoration Crew– Creek Week Cleanup

Become a steward of our parks and join the Bear Creek Nature Center Restoration Crew. This group conducts quarterly restoration projects including fire mitigation, trail maintenance, and invasive species removal. Varying levels of difficulty for each project.

Traverse the trails at Bear Creek Nature Center, meeting creepy creatures along the way that will unravel and dispel myths about things that go bump in the night. Preregister for specific times. The dreaded “White Plague” built a local economy reliant on medical tourism. We’ll explore both the reputable and infamous people, places, and treatments that made Colorado Springs famous as a health resort.

Pumpkin Carving Party

Carve pumpkins to leave for the lighted trail at the Jack-o-Lantern event! Pre-scooped pumpkins, patterns, and carving tools provided. Return at night to see your creation in action along the trail. Pumpkins may be retrieved after 7:30 p.m.

Homeschool Fridays- Walk the Wetlands

Friday, November 22, 2-4pm

Use your senses to explore the wetland and learn about the animals that live there. Includes a puppet show, animal inquiry activity, and a guided hike. Designed for grades Pre-K – 2.

Pre-registration is required for most programs. Space may be limited. General cancellation policy: No refunds are given for public program registrations unless the program is cancelled by the Nature Centers. In the case of severe or dangerous weather staff may deem the conditions unsafe and may reschedule or cancel an event or program. All refunds will be paid by check. Check refunds may take 3-4 weeks to process.
