New Santa Fe Regional Trail

Due to heightened security, the section of the New Santa Fe Trail that runs through the Air Force Academy has been closed until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience and we will post an update when the trail reopens. Questions can be emailed to parks@elpasoco.com.

Fountain Creek Regional Park ADA Construction Project

El Paso County, CO – The El Paso County Facilities Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Team, in partnership with the Parks Division, is announcing upcoming accessibility improvements near Pavilion #1 at Fountain Creek Regional Park.

As part of the County’s ongoing commitment to accessibility, the project will incorporate three ADA-compliant parking spaces near the pavilion. These upgrades will ensure that residents and visitors of all abilities can enjoy the park’s recreational opportunities.

Construction is scheduled to begin on July 15, 2025, and completion is anticipated by mid-August 2025. During this period, Pavilion #1 will remain open, but the parking area in front may be limited. El Paso County appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as we work to enhance accessibility across public facilities and parks for the benefit of all residents.

El Paso County Parks is working to minimize disturbances to the public in the evenings and on weekends. Normal working hours will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. -3:30 p.m.

Fox Run Wedding Gazebo and Ponds Closure and Construction

The Wedding Gazebo will be closed for construction and redesign starting September 2024. Construction will include draining and relining of Aspen Lake. The closure will continue through the end of 2025.

Northgate Trailhead Permanent Closure

Permanent Trailhead Closure: The Northgate Parking Area and Trailhead that provides access to the New Santa Fe Trail have been permanently closed by the Air Force Academy due to the construction of the new visitors center. The nearest trailhead with open access will be Baptist Road. Once the new visitors center has been completed a new trailhead with parking will be implemented. The trail will remain open during this time. Unchanged: Permanent Trailhead Closure: The Northgate Parking Area and Trailhead that provides access to the New Santa Fe Trail have been permanently closed by the Air Force Academy due to the construction of the new visitors center. The nearest trailhead with open access will be Baptist Road. Once the new visitors center has been completed a new trailhead with parking will be implemented. The trail will remain open during this time.
