El Paso County Clean Sweep Hard-to-Recycle Events for tires, mattresses/box springs, and large TVs!
The 2024 Clean Sweep events have concluded.

NOTE: If you DO NOT have tires, mattresses, or larger TVs, you will need to visit the Hazardous Waste Facility during regular business hours. The facility accepts paints, chemicals, batteries, small electronics, etc. year-round for FREE! Click this link for more information.
♻ The following items are accepted for FREE at the Clean Sweep Events from El Paso and Teller County residents ONLY. (No trash or business waste) :
Televisions: ANY SIZE TV, limited to five [5] total per vehicle.
Mattresses/Box Springs (limited to six [6] total)
Tires passenger and light truck (limit is nine [9] per vehicle, as required by state law)*.

✗ NOT ACCEPTED:
Air Conditioners, Ammunition, Appliances, Asbestos, Business Waste (includes schools, churches, nonprofits, etc.), Cables/Wires NOT attached to anything, Carpet/Rugs, Compressed Gas Cylinders other than 1 or 20lb propane, 1 lb butane or 1lb mapp gas, Containers larger than 5 gal, Fans, Freezers, Furniture, Heaters, Home media items (CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, cassettes, etc.), Lab grade/Industrial chemicals & products, Lawnmowers, Medical Tools/Supplies, Medications (click for more info), Microwaves, Phones (cell/landline), Refrigerators, Remote Controls, Satellite dishes, Snow Blowers, Speakers, Trash, Unlabeled or leaking containers, Yard Waste, Wood
Any unacceptable items may be rejected. If you have an item not listed here, please call 719-520-7878 for acceptance criteria.

* Section 10.3.2 REGISTRATION FOR WASTE TIRE HAULING
(A) No person shall transport a load of ten (10) or more waste tires at one time unless he/she has registered with the Department by submitting an application for Certificate of Registration (Form WT-1) to the Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Division of the Department and received a Certificate of Registration from the Department.
TRAFFIC INSTRUCTIONS: You will need to enter by heading NORTH on Akers Dr. from Constitution Ave. (Entering the facility from N. Carefree will not be accessible).

Paints, chemicals, electronics, batteries, and bulbs can be accepted at the HHWF during regular business hours. (Flat screen TVs must be 40″ or smaller diagonally, CRTs must be 20″ or smaller diagonally).
