Nature Journaling Guided Walk

Sharpen your pencils! This guided walk incorporates a short hike with stops to experience nature in a whole new way. Participants will be offered prompts and invitations to sketch, photograph, journal and explore the beauty & wonders of Bear Creek trails. Bear Creek Restoration Crew– Creek Week Cleanup

Become a steward of our parks and join the Bear Creek Nature Center Restoration Crew. This group conducts quarterly restoration projects including fire mitigation, trail maintenance, and invasive species removal. Varying levels of difficulty for each project.

Pollinator BioBlitz Kickoff

Did you know that over a third of the world’s crops rely on pollinators? Learn more about iNaturalist and the importance of pollinators, then take a guided hike to look for and identify pollinators in the park! Any observations made during the month of September will be recorded under a month-long community science project called the ‘Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz’. Smart device with data needed to record observations.
Recommended ages 12+. Prepaid registration required.

Reptile Baby Shower

The Nature Center and its trails are a paradise for turtles, snakes, and lizards! We’ll learn about all the reptiles that call the wildlife area home, celebrate the late summer when all the babies hatch from their eggs, and walk the trail to see what little ones we might find.

Terrific Tarantulas

Despite their monstrous reputation, tarantulas are the gentle giants of the spider world. Learn more about these fascinating creatures, meet our resident tarantula, then go on a hike searching for smaller spiders along the nature trail. Recommended ages 5+. Pumpkin Carving Party

Saturday, October 26, 9am-noon

Carve pumpkins to leave for the lighted trail at the Jack-o-Lantern event! Pre-scooped pumpkins, patterns, and carving tools provided. Return at night to see your creation in action along the trail. Pumpkins may be retrieved after 7:30 p.m.
$5 per pumpkin, you will receive a ticket to the Jack-o-Lantern Trail event for each pumpkin you carve. Reservations recommended, walk-ups welcome Sponsored by Milberger Farms, Pueblo.

Jack-O-Lantern Trail

Saturday, October 26, 5:30-7:30pm

Enjoy the lighted Jack-o-Lanterns along the trail, make a craft, hear stories, and roast a marshmallow! Costumes are encouraged at this festive event! Carved pumpkins may be picked up by their owners starting at 7:30 p.m. Sponsored by Milberger Farms, Pueblo.
$5 per person, $4 per member.

In the case of severe or dangerous weather staff may deem the conditions unsafe and may reschedule or cancel an event or program. All refunds will be paid by check.
