In August 2020, El Paso County Parks and its contractor, Performance Recreation, will begin work on the Phase II Park Improvements Project, following the guidelines of the 2017 Widefield Community Park Master Plan. Recommended improvements include the installation of two ADA-accessible picnic pavilions. Accessed by concrete sidewalks and equipped with picnic tables, trash cans, and BBQ grills, one pavilion will be located near the newly installed Fitness Zone, and the other immediately adjacent the recently updated and expanded playground, with ADA ramp access into the playground itself. Both picnic pavilions will be reservable by the public once completed. The project will also focus on the redesign and construction of the park’s main entrance sidewalk to bring it into ADA compliance, as well as the replacement of the playground’s aging poured-in-place safety rubberized surfacing.

Widefield Community Park users are asked to be aware of construction crews and equipment in the park, be respectful of construction fencing and warning signs, and avoid the construction areas.
